Kevin Todd mentioned a high stick to St. Lawrence's captain Paul DiFrancesco
in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Miami. DiFran was whacked by his ear at the halfway
point of the first period, resulting in copious amounts of blood (but no
penalty). Apparently, he was taken right to the hospital and needed 22 stitches
in the head and ear to close the wound. Yet he made it back to the arena and
on the ice with about 8 minutes to go in the third period and managed to
put in the (disallowed) goal which would have tied the score with 21 seconds
left. Sounds like a good candidate for a hockey version of the All-Madden team.
