In the first round of the Fifth annual Dexter Hockey Classic, U.Mass
Lowell beat the Concordia Stingers of Montreal, 5-4. In the late game,
Maine beat the Army Cadets 15-5.
 
Here's how it broke down....

I didn't see much of the first game, I can say that Lowell skated all
Concordia. Lowell played the puck well, checked ok, and over all did a
good job. Concordia was having trouble keeping the puck for more than
a pass or two.
 
In the Night-cap, Maine looked as though they were playing a high-school
team. Army did have a couple of its top players out, and Maine was coming
off a tough loss to Wisconsin last weekend, so Maine was ready to play.
From the first goal at 1:47 into the first, everybody knew who was going
to win. Maine's Patrice Tardiff had Four goals on the night, and his line
combined for six goals and seven assists. Maine set a record for short-
handed goals with three (Scott Pellerin had two and Jim Montgomery had one.)
Both teams switched goalies at 10:4? of the second period. Maine went from
Garth Snow to Rob Howland, and Army went from Brandon Hayes to Scott Boyle.
 
 
Army will face Concordia at 4pm today, and Lowell will play Maine at 7pm.
