Subjective discussions about which is the best team in college hockey are
interesting but never resolve the issue for all sides (that's been readily
proven). Even attempts at quantifying "The Best," like the various power
rankings never completely resolve the issue. College football even resorts
to votes by the press and coaches to determine "The Best." There's a great
arrangement.

Fortunately, college hockey doesn't rely on the press or coaches or power
rankings. It has an honest to goodness tournament. The discussion of "The
Best," is a secondary issue. The premiere issue is which team is The
Champion.

In 1996-97 the National Champion in all of Division I College Hockey is
indisputably,
The University of North Dakota.

That's the whole enchilada, baby!

Call any team what you will; "The Best," "Most Talented," "The Greatest...."
But there's only one National Champion and that's what it's all about.

Congratulations to the Sioux and all their fans.
