The best "Sieve" cheer, IMO, is the one chanted by at least a few ECAC
cheering sections:
"Hey, <goalie's first name>, you're not a goalie, you're a sieve.
You're not a sieve, you're a funnel. You're not a funnel, you're a
vacuum. You're not a vacuum, you're a black hole. You're not a black
hole, YOU JUST SUCK!!!"
Is this one heard at all out west? I was in the RPI pep band my
freshman and sophomore years, and the band members who had been there
for a while claimed that it originated at RPI; however, other schools
use the same cheer (slightly modified), so I have to wonder.
Also a favorite at RPI, when we have a 6-2 or 7-2 lead: "We've got a
touchdown, you've got a safety, (repeated a few times), SAFETY
SCHOOl!" This one is probably not an RPI original.
The crowd at Brown is pretty intelligent, and pretty cruel sometimes.
Neil Little was in goal for the Engineers one night and having a rough
time. The crowd (an impressive number) yelled: "Hey, Little, your
recruiter called. He said, 'oops'!" Of course, a few years earlier,
the Brown crowd started a Miller Lite "Tastes Great/Less Filling"-type
back and forth chant, one side saying "RPI" and the other side saying
"sucks". They got it going good, and at the height of the noise, the
Engineers scored. The place went silent until the RPI band
collectively said, "Hey Brown, How do you feel? Ha Ha Ha!"
