A hard-fought and tight-checking game was ruined by a late call by the
referees (Leavitt and Campatellit). After allowing several blatant
penalties go uncalled in the last couple of minutes (understandably),
they confused everyone in the rink by calling a questionable roughing
penalty on Yale with 1:42 to go in the game and the score tied 2-2. With
just under aa minute to go, Harvard scored to win on the power play. The
game could have gone either way, but it's tough to see the ref play such
a large part in the outcome of the game with such an awful call.
Something has to be done about the quality of reffing in the ECAC,
because so far this year it's been pretty awful. The calls couldn't be
much more inconsistent than they have been.
