There has been a lot of talk over the network lately about the WCHA
forming 3 regions within its self. Western Region (UAA, Denver, CC, UAF)
Central Region (Wisconsin, Minnesota St. Cloud and maybe Mankato State)
Northern Region (NMU, MTU, Duluth and North Dakota) If this is true the
WCHA is going to turn into a top heavy division where regular season
play means absolutely nothing. You'll end up having 3 teams with home
playoff advantages representing their region in the WCHA. The traveling
distances of most of the WCHA schools are within a few hours here and
there. How can you deny MTU,NMU, Duluth, and North Dakota to only play
Minnesota, Wisconsin, St. Cloud and possibly Mankato only twice in a
year. I would hate to have to wait every other year just to see NMU get
to play Wisconsin at Lakeview. I'm sure the fine Badger fans would feel
the same way in Madison. The main point in this argument is 24 points
will be acquired by teams playing in their own region. Your lacking true
competition like the WCHA offers currently. If UAF joins the WCHA fine,
change, slant, and format their schedule to accomodate the rest of the
WCHA.
