Cute. :-)

Or, if you weren't trying to be funny, I'll reiterate that Michigan's David
Oliver seems to be the popular choice. Wiseman deserves a nomination and
All-America honors. Who knows, maybe Wiseman will outplay Oliver the rest
of the season and take over as front runner. At the moment, I *believe*
that they are 1-2 in the nation in total points with 18-29--47 (Oliver,
22gm) and 10-35--45 (Wiseman, 21g). Shields has nice numbers (15-1-1, 2.50,
89.4), but IMHO isn't playing as well as he did last year (30-6-2, 2.22,
90.9) when I felt he should have been nominated. However, it seems unlikely
that three players from the same team will be nominated. Last season, all
ten nominees were forwards. Had there been a defenseman, Chris Imes would
have been the logical choice, giving Maine three nominees (Imes, Kariya &
Montgomery).

I can't speak to the East, but other potential Western candidates include
UAF's Dean Fedorchuk and Tavis MacMillan with Fedorchuk getting most of the
attention. Another name I'll toss into the ring is Wisconsin's Andrew
Shier.

Although it's not 100% correlated with the Hobey, many people feel that
junior Mike Knuble (22-16--38) is Michigan's best player. If nothing else,
he's the best NHL prospect.

When March rolls around, I'll let you know who my third candidate is. :-)

  1994 -- 1. Oliver(?) 2.(?) 3.(?) (Hobey?)
