From an article in Sunday's Star Tribune:
MINNESOTA SHOULD BE WELL-REPRESENTED IN LILLEHAMMER NEXT YEAR:

Hockey
"It sends chills up your spine," said Derek Plante, a Cloquet-born
Minnesota-Duluth player and a prime '94 Olympic prospect. Plante, with Gophers
Darby Hendrickson of Richfield and Craig Johnson of St. Paul, played on the
20-and-over U.S. national team in Finland last summer (Olympic coach Tim Taylor
 coached that team).

Now that the "Dream Team" concept is dead -- which NHL officials
announced Friday -- Taylor, Yale's coach is developing a list of top Olympic
candidates who will be placed on key international teams later in the winter.
In July, at the U.S. Olympic Festival in San Antonio, Texas, other candidates
will be evaluated. An Olympic selection camp is set for late summer, likely in
Cromwell, Conn.

Among other local candidates: Gophers Jeff Nielsen of Grand Rapids and
Travis Richards of Crystal, John Gruden of Hastings and Ferris State, and
Chris Imes of Birchdale and Maine.
