Comments:
The Middlebury Panthers possessed an obvious speed advantage over a
young RIT Tiger team and used it to their advantage all night. RIT
was able to exert some pressure off the initial face-off. Sandy Payne
took the puck behind the Middlebury net and fed it to Rebecca Grandy
in the slot who beat the Middlebury netminder low on the glove side to
give the Tigers the early lead at 2:25. But the Panthers stormed back
and tied the game on a nice shot from Michelle Labbe at 8:59.

Middlebury completely dominated play in the 2nd period. The Panthers
scored at 12:34 when Sarah Cotton tipped in a shot from the point by
 Catherine Pullins.

The third period saw a little more even play territorially, but
Middlebury was still able to keep a distinct advantage in both the
quality and quantity of shots. The Panthers took a 3-1 lead just 37
seconds in to the period when Catherine Pullins put in a shot from the
top of the slot through a screen. The Tigers gamely tried to come
back but were just outmatched by a faster Middlebury team.
