        In fact, that exact situation, only with the teams reversed,
would have arised if the DQs had occurred in the first of these three
games (the one on Long Island) rather than the last.  Colgate played
Merrimack in between the non-conference game with Cornell and the
conference game at Lynah, while the Red were idle.  Exactly that
possibility occurred to me, only in this case it would have been
worse, since the game in which the DQs would have occurred was
*itself* a non-conference game.  Of course, since Colgate is in a
position to make the NCAA tournament on the basis of their overall
performance, there are arguably no unimportant games for them, in or
out of the conference.
