Minnesota beat Mankato State 4-3 Saturday night at Mariucci Arena, to
complete their first series sweep of the season. Gopher wing Dave
Spehar left the game early in the third period; unofficial sources
indicate a bruised shoulder. Netminder Erik Day picked up his first win
of the season. The Gophers are idle next week, and return to action in
a home series against Denver the following weekend. With the return of
Aaron Miskovich from the U.S. Junior team, as well as the hoped for
return of injured players, Minnesota may be able to dress a full
complement of 20 players for their next game. There was lots of elbow
room on the bench tonight.
