Well, with Jon Gaskins out, Kevin Harper still not ready to play after a bout
of mono and an early season hernia operation, Ron Mason is turning to the
football team for aid.
 
Mason went ot new football coach Nick Saban to approach Spartan punter Chris
Salani, who was an all-state hockey player at Hancock HS in Michigan. Salani
skated with teh team on Monday in practice, but the coaches are going to assess
hie skills and possibility of inserting into the starting lineup.
TMSU only has six ready defensemen, and Salani would probably only be called on
in case of emergency.
