         Hi folks,
This is going to be a brief summary of this weekend's
action at the Alfond, because I have had 5 (LONG)posts rejected in the
past 2 days, and my hands are too tired to write 5 pages, and have them
sent back to me. So we'll see if this ever makes it. If it does,I'll
make separate posts about each game.

Friday night the Bears came out to the new expanded arena
and blasted Providence 9-3 on the strength of the Freshmen (4 goals,
5 assists). Peter Ferraro had 2 goals and 2 assists and was selected
the #1 Star of the game.
Saturday night the Friars played very tough(in some
situations reminding me of the Manson bros. from Slap Shot) and were
able to get away with a 3-3 tie. Quite frankly,Providence played like
goons, the refs allowed it,and it worked becasue Maine was never into
the up-tempo that favors the Bears' style of play. The most blatant
offense was in the 3rd Period with Maine up 3-2,when Erik Peterson

lifted Peter Ferraro off of the ice with his stick, and deposited him
on his back(after the whistle). He was called for elbowing, and Peter
was shocked to discover that after lying on the ice for 5 minutes,he
had been called for slashing...I saw Peter's wound after the game...and
I have to tell you,Erik Peterson must have the Biggest, strongest elbow
the world has ever seen becasue it laid a bruise across his entire right
rib cage. But I'll give Providence some credit for showing deter-
mination, after getting blown out 9-3 on the road, they came out tonight
and took UMaine entirely out of its style, and earned a tie in Alfond.
Not an easy thing to accomplish.

Should this make it through,I'll post my full articles of both
games and scoring summaries. If it dosen't,it dosen't matter, because
      you'll never read this... hehehe
