Regarding the LSSU crumbling of last weekend: I talked to a friend at LSSU
after the flames had died down, and no one was quite sure how the Lakers
bench could go that berserk. Most of it was the dismay of seeing a superb
defensive team (150-80 or so goal differential) surrender 4 power play goals
to Ohio State. Not to take away from the Bucks: they flat out outplayed the
Lakers, and were deserving of both wins. What's even worse for Laker fans is
that MSU will prevail in a tie breaker, bumping LSSU down to third in the
CCHA. A true disappointment for a team who played excellent defensive hockey
down the stretch, and who got some Hobey Baker-type goaltending from Darrin
Madeley.
Just wait till tournament time, the Lakers of old will ememrge.
g'day,
bill h.
