David,

If you're asking whether Michigan and Michigan State plan to make this
an annual affair, the official answer appears to be "no". It's been
explained that natural grass fields can't support the weight of the ice
surface without damage. I'm not clear about whether that means damage
to the grass field or whether it's impossible to build a rigid ice sheet
on a field that doesn't have a foundation for artificial turf. Michigan
Stadium already has natural grass. Spartan Stadium is apparently
converting before next seeason.

Whether the apparent success of Saturday's adventure generates such
demand for an annual game that the schools look for another suitable
venue, ... that's a separate question. If, as Erik suggested, the Red
Wings consider the new Ford Field a possibility, it's surely as viable a
venue for the two schools as Joe Louis Arena is for the GLI. Or, ...
should the GLI be moving to Ford Field?

According to the MSU announcers, there were representatives of U of
Minnesota and (I think) North Dakota in attendance to learn what they
could. Minnesota's domed ballpark was mentioned as an ideal venue for a
copycat effort.
