BLACK CRUISES TO 8-1 VICTORY OVER WHITE IN ANNUAL INTRASQUAD GAME
Jon Pittis Leads Black With Three Goals and Two Assists

Houghton, Mich. -- Michigan Tech followed up its 11-0 victory over
the U.S. National Under 18 Team Thursday night with a nine-goal
outburst in the team's annual Silver/Gold Intrasquad Game before an
energetic crowd at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

Team Black gained the victory in the game with eight of the nine
goals. Sophomore Jon Pittis put on quite a show for Team Black. The
5-5 Pittis tallied three goals and added two assists for a five-point
night. Freshman Bryan Perez, who redshirted last season, tallied two
Black goals, while senior Paul Cabana, junior Chuck Fabry, and
sophomore Brett Engelhardt each added a goal.

Freshman Ryan Markham, a local product from Houghton, Mich., gained
White's lone tally.

Junior Brian Rogers started in goal for the Black and stopped all 17
White shots in the first half. Rogers, who blanked the U.S. National
Under 18 Team Thursday evening, now has 85 straight minutes of
shutout hockey to start the season. Freshman Nick Brett played the
second half for Black and yielded one goal on 18 shots in 25 minutes.

Ron Wiitanen made 15 saves on 19 shots for Team White in the first
half, while John Mancini had nine saves on 13 shots in the second
half for White.

Michigan Tech will play its first NCAA competition next weekend when
it hosts ECAC power St. Lawrence. Opening faceoff is set for 7:05
p.m. both nights.
