PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Providence College men’s hockey team is ranked No. 8 
in the nation, according to the latest US College Hockey Online Poll and 
the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Coaches Poll released on Monday, 
November 20, 2000.
         The 7-2-3 Friars posted a 0-0-2 record last week. On November 24, 
PC tied then ninth-ranked Colorado College, 1-1, at Colorado Springs World 
Arena.  On November 25, the Friars tied the Denver Pioneers, 3-3, at 
Magness Arena in Denver Colo.
         Last weekend, senior J.J. Picnic (Fort Lee, N.J.) tallied his 
eighth goal of the season in the Friars' 1-1 tie versus Colorado.  Freshman 
Mike Robinson (Biggar Sakatchewan), freshman Stephen Wood (Sudbury, Mass.) 
and senior Matt Libby (Saco, Maine) each scored one goal in the Friars' 3-3 
tie at Denver.  Sophomore Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) and 
senior Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) have shared the Friars’ 
goaltending duties.  This season, the duo have combined for a 2.04 goals 
against average and a .938 save percentage.
         The Friars will return to action Friday, December 1, versus HOCKEY 
EAST rival Merrimack College at 7:00 p.m.  On Saturday, December 2, PC will 
travel to Merrimack's Volpe Complex for the second game of the 
home-and-home series.
