I have to agree with Mark on three accounts:
(1) CC showed impressive defense. Clarkson had the type of team to beat
CC -- a big team that can get rebounds (and a goalie that normalyy gives
them up), and their power play was designed to capitalize on exactly
that. But nothing thanks to a surprizingly stong defense to go with
their offensive speed.
(2) UNH dominated that game. Even when Wisconsin had the lead, I still
thought UNH was the better team -- today. This was not the Wisconsin
team that beat UND and CC in the WCHA playoffs. Freshman goalies are
hard to win with.
(3) The video feed from the Michigan game was interesting, but too much
like those old arcade movies where you drop in a quarter, and turn a
crank that flips pictures fast enough to make a movie. My 28.8 crank
wasn't fast enough to make the movie interesting. And since TV
announcers often let the picture do the talking, I turned back to the
radio feed for the last 3 minutes of the game. But it is an interesting
idea -- any hockey game in the nation that you might want to watch is
only an internet address away. If they can do if for radio, why not for
TV? Imagine that. Sitting in Minnesota I could watch Maine play Vermont
and then switch over to SEE Colorado play Alaska-Anchorage. WOW.
