University of Michigan senior netminder Marty Turco
established a new NCAA record for victories with wins
over Bowling Green and Western Michigan this past
weekend. The top ten in Division I victories (please
e-mail any corrections to me):
    1. Marty Turco (Michigan 1994-present) 113
    2. Steve Shields (Michigan 1990-94) 111
    3. Gary Kruzich (Bowling Green 1983-87) 88
    4. Jason Muzzatti (Michigan State 1987-91) 83
    5. Ron Grahame (Denver 1969-73) 82
    6. Bill Pye (Northern Michigan 1987-91) 81
       Tim Thomas (Vermont 1993-97) 81
    8. Duane Derksen (Wisconsin 1988-92) 80
    9. Ken Dryden (Cornell 1966-69) 76
Norm Foster (Michigan State 1983-87) 76

Lost in the hoopla of the new record was senior winger
Bill Muckalt's 200th career point (98-103--201 through
140 games).

And, to flog a dead horse (The Ice Breaker)...

Mike Machnik writes...
>Nevertheless, it isn't true that after the games and after
>BU had lost to MSU, Parker tried to have the status changed.

I don't recall anyone claiming or even implying this.

>He has always maintained that the original agreement was
>to not count the games for NCAA selection...

This is the sentiment that many, myself included, consider
a complete crock.

>After the tourney, USCHO contacted the NCAA and was
>told that the games would not count in NCAA selection or
>in the NCAA's overall stats.

Apparently this news only reached USCHO. If you have a
release from the NCAA stating this, I'm sure that several
folks would be interested in seeing it.
