The Princeton Tigers defeated Plattsburgh 4 - 3 friday night.
Freshman Casson Masters scored two goals for the Tigers, including
the game winner. Junior J.P. O'connor had a goal and two assists,
Kelly had the other goal for Princeton. Frosh Matt Brush had two
assists. Plattsburgh scored the first goal of the game, on a 5 on 3
power play early in the first. Princeton stormed back to score
three unanswered goals in the first, and it look to me like a rout
was on. However, the Tigers could not stay out of the Penalty box.
They spent a good portion of the first and second period a man down,
and twice they were 2 men down. Plattsburgh scored an even-strength
goal in the second. After Masters put Princeton up 4-2 in the
third, Plattsburgh pulled their goalie with 1:56 left and quickly
scored to make the game 4-3. They could not get the equalizier
as Princeton hung on to win.
Overall I was pleased with Princeton's performance. Masters is a
heck of a hockey player; he will be exciting to watch. The Tiger's
need to cut down on their penalties, though. It's tough to win a
hockey game with only 4 men on the ice.
