I've sent off the latest revisions of the DivI composite and team
schedules to the archives. Included are changes to the schedules of
some CCHA teams, mainly in several early season games vs Canadian
opponents that I did not have before. Thanks to JohnH for providing a
copy of the CCHA pocket schedule.

One change that affects teams outside the CCHA, is that the trip by
Miami and LSSU to visit the ECAC over Thanksgiving has had slight
changes. Miami will play SLU 11/25 and Vermont 11/26, and LSSU will
play Vermont 11/25 and SLU 11/26. Previously, I had these games
reversed.

As always, people are welcome to fetch copies of team schedules or the
composite from the archives and send changes to me. Chances are your
team's schedule has changed somewhat recently. There may be further
slight changes over the coming days/weeks; I don't intend to post
about every little change that is made. I still plan to update
everything during the season at least once a week around Sunday night
or Monday morning, and probably more often as time permits.

The standings file, 9495CONF STAND, has only conference standing
templates in it, but you will notice that the HE standings are listed
differently from the others. My decision was to add an extra column
for shootout wins. All shootout games will still be listed as ties in
the HE standings (mine, anyway; I have not yet heard that HE has made
a final decision, but this was the scenario I suggested to them - it
got rave reviews, but no decision has been made yet). The only change
is that some of the "ties" will also be listed under "SOW". I
included a special note underneath the HE standings to explain this.

"W" will NOT include SOW. It means that at least in my standings, it
should be very easy to determine a team's NC record, shootout record,
etc. Thanks to all who provided input on this. Upon request, I gave
Tim Burton at HE all the information he should need to make a decision
in terms of various possible scenarios and pluses and minuses of each
along with my recommendation. Now we will have to see what happens.

To deal with the shootouts, after considering various alternatives, I
have decided to list the scores in the composite and in the team
schedules the way they will be given by HE (as far as I understand
it). That is, a shootout win will be listed as, for example,

11/12/94 New Hampshire 4 at Merrimack 5 so [2-1 SOW, MC]

because I feel it is important that people should be able to look at
the schedules and see the same scores they see in their papers. The
program I have that crunches all the numbers deals with this by
correcting the goals for/against and records when it sees the "so"
designation instead of "ot". It also interprets "so" as an overtime
tie for purposes of determining the overtime and home/away/DivI records
that appear at the end of the standings file.

It was suggested, by Robin I believe, that the files should contain
the scores as they will be viewed by the NC$$ (i.e. above, a 4-4 tie).
I did consider this, but in the end, I felt it was more important to
remain consistent with what I have been led to believe will be
reported officially.

I have to apologize up front if this will cause anyone undue hassle
who tries to use the output from the schedules for various reasons. I
quickly realized that whatever I did, it was going to be confusing in
some way. I tried to have it make as much sense as I could, and I
think I succeeded. I believe that people who understand how the
shootouts will work and how they will affect (or not affect) statistics
and records, will be able to easily understand the scores and
standings that I will be generating. I hope I am right, and as
always, I welcome further comments and ideas.
