        According to Monday's Bangor Daily News, Maine's recruiting class has
been bolstered by the addition of Martin LaPointe, a defenseman from British
Columbia Junior Hockey League and Scott Parmentier from the U.S. Hockey League.
        LaPointeis 21 years old, stands 5'-10" weighs 175, scored 19 goals and
50 assists in 60 games for the Penticton Panthers.  He was selected as the top
defenseman in the Interior Div of the BCJHL and was on the Interior Div. All-
Star team.  LaPointe is from Rouin-Noranda, Quebec.  His former Penticton
coach, said he was very skilled and a very good skater, an offensive type
defenseman.  He was very good as a pointman on the power play.  Davidson also
said he is very versatile and even used him as a forward, because of his skill
an quickness.
        Scott Parmentier is a 20 year old, native of Blackstone Mass.  He played
34 games for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL, were he scored  30 goals and 22
assists.  In 18 play-of games he added 17 goals and 13 assist.  His former
coach said, "Maine has itself a good player. He can really skate.  He is a
scorer and he has a great hockey body.  He trains extremely hard."   Scott is
5'9" and weighs 180 lbs.
        Both players verbally commited to Maine, they have passed their SAT's
it is now up to the admissions department to accept them.
