Maybe it should be officially called The Parity League. The ECAC seems
bound and determined to produce no dominant team other than Harvard, and
even the highly-ranked Crimson struggled this weekend, having to go to
overtime to get by league doormat Dartmouth. And as far as the rest of the
top teams in the league: Brown tied Vermont and lost to Dartmouth (and thus
probably lost any real shot at overtaking the Crimson for the regular-season
title), RPI had to settle for a tie against Yale, and Clarkson lost to
Cornell, who promptly lost to St. Lawrence the following night in a mild
upset. Probably the biggest news is that Union, dead last in their first
two seasons in the league, now sits in seventh place and will clinch a
playoff spot by picking up one more point. This is going to be a nerve-
wracking stretch run.
