in a game they did not really deserve to win, air force never led in
the 5-4 overtime win. St olaf took a 1-0 lead early in and after air
force got the equalizer, st olaf went up 2-1 late in the period. In
the second, they made it 3-1 on a short hander, and the falcons closed
it to 3-2 later on. St olaf got one to go up 4-2 early in the 3rd,
and it looked like the listless falcons were a goner. Air force came
back with power play goals to tie it with about 2 minutes left, and
then scored the winner on a 5 on 3 power play about 3 minutes into the
overtime. The referees were (as last night) wcha linesmen jon elvy and
john campion, and i thought St Olaf got the short end of the
officiating. The tying goal looked even to me like it was directed
in with a skate, and st olaf protested violently, but to no avail.
The penalty that made it 5 on 3 was marginal at best.
Next week, it is mankato state there for a reurn matchup of the
january series here.
