I heard on the WVII TV station last night that Maine lost to the
Northeastern Huskies 6-3. They also mentioned that this is the
first time in 120 games that Maine has lost two games in a row.
Hmm...some record, huh?
I also believe that this stops the "no-loss away from home during the
regular season" streak that Maine had going for quite a while. I know
they did'nt lose any away from Alfond last season. I do not remember
which game they lost in the season before. They had lost to MSU in
1991-1992, but that was in the NCAA tournament. Does anyone know
one this was? The Hockey-L guru, Mike Machnik :) perhaps!
Also, what is the final tally on that streak?
One final thought: As Mike M. pointed out, parity seems to have arrived
to HE, after a couple of years of domination by BU and Maine (with the
odd pretender each of those years). NE has beaten both BU and Maine
this year and Mass-Lowell beat UNH last night, after UNH's flying
start. Has the makings of a very interesting year!
Cheers
Venky
