In Buffalo this evening, the Ice Griffs defeated Iona, 5-3. Iona started strong with a goal in the first minute of play, but Canisius came back with 3 unanswered goals in the first period. The teams traded a goal each in the second, and Iona closed the gap in the third period with another goal before the Griffs clinched with an empty netter.
Canisius looked much better than they did earlier in the season. Clearly the more physical team tonight, and also better team speed than the Gaels. If you get to watch Canisius on the road, keep an eye on #12, John Durno. This guy is the archetypal one-man wrecking crew!
The Griffs host Army Saturday night.
