Take it from someone who minored* in technical theater:
No space short of the O'Hare taxiways could make an adequate system sound as
bad as Bright's PA. I suspect that their amp is underpowered, so they have
the gain cranked up so that you can hear *something*, but when they do that,
of course you clip all the high end frequencies (which are crucial for being
able to reproduce consonants). Without consonants, the human speaking voice
is useless. Putting in an adequate amp would probably cost at least $4-5k,
and we all know how poor Harvard has to struggle for money.....
