I was at a Red Freak Out in February of 1989 (When I was considering RPI for
graduate study) and there were no noise makers, but I still have the Freak Out
hanky that was handed to me at the arena entrance. I remember that it was a
game against Yale (I think Yale won it 5-4). It was a shock to my system when
I walked into the arena and all you could see was red and white--I thought I
was having a bad Wisconsin nightmare (ha, ha).
The other thing I noticed was that when an RPI player fired a shot wide of the
goal, the fans would yell "Oh s--t!"
