I talked to the SID at Northern Michigan just the other day about this
report, and they confirmed for me that indeed Ryan Esslemont, Derek Reynolds,
Don McCusker, Kory Karlander, Bobby Davis and Trevor Rosen had all been
removed from the team for "violation(s) of team rules," but would not
elaborate on what the infraction(s) was/were, only that the decision was
final.
It is believed that Kory Karlander is headed for a berth with an ECHL team,
though that is not definite; several others departed to play juniors, and
just one -- unspecified -- player has remained enrolled in school.
Unless you can come up with some info from someone directly involved, any
speculation as to the nature of the misbehavior is just that -- speculation.
It's too bad, but every now and then a clear message has to be sent: these
are the rules which you are expected to observe, and this is the consequence
if you don't. Hard way to learn a lesson, but very effective.
