U.S. Junior Team keeps seven from state
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the U.S. national junior hockey team's 4-1 exhibition
loss to Russia on Saturday in Hartford, Conn., coach Jack Parker
made his final cuts.
Seven Minnesotans are on the 22-man roster for the World Junior
Hockey Championships. They are: forwards Reg Berg, Anoka; Matt
Cullen, Moorhead; Casey Hankinson, Edina; Mark Parrish, Bloom-
ington; Erik Rasmussen, St. Louis Park; and Wyatt Smith, Warroad;
and defenseman Ben Clymer, Bloomington.
Smith assisted on the U.S. team's only goal against Russia.
The U.S. team will play three-time defending champion Canada in
the first round Tuesday night in Worcester, Mass.
The tournament, which ends Jan.4, is being played at six venues in
Massachusetts.
