Wisconsin captured the Championship of the Badger Hockey Showdown
for the 5th time in the 6 year history of this tourney. The final
was UW 6, LSSU 4.
The game was close all the way, with the Badgers nursing a 2-goal
lead late in the third until a penalty allowed the Lakers to
close to 5-4. A breakaway goal by Scott Sanderson at 19:11 iced
the win.
The game was close despite the Badgers having a lopsided edge
in Shots On Goal. At one point late in the second, the margin
was 40:20. Final totals were 48:37. Only great goaltending by
Kulick kept the Lakers close.
Lots of penalties: UW 18 for 36 min, LSSU 22 for 52 min.
LSSU 2 1 1 - 4
UW 3 1 2 - 6
Saves:
LSSU (Kulick) 16 20 6 - 42
UW (Daubenspeck) 7 11 15 - 33
Attendance:

Northeastern whose name I didn't get (sorry Husky fans).
Tourney MVP: Brian Holzinger (BGSU) with 5 goals in the two games.
