*What is happening?*

  On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, from 5 a.m. - 6 a.m., US:IT staff will be
upgrading one of the data center outbound proxy servers to a a new
version. There is no downtime expected during this work.

At this time, only hosts configured to use the host "proxy-1.net.maine.edu"
will be upgraded. Other proxy hosts are not impacted by this work.

*Why is this work necessary?*

The proxy server software powering this proxy server is out of date and
no longer supported. In addition to updating to a supported server
version, the proxy services will be moved to a pair of servers to allow for
better performance, maintainability and redundancy.

*What happens if the work is not successful?*

If there are issues discovered during the migration process, or shortly
thereafter, we will attempt to correct the issues. If the reported issues
can not be resolved, we will revert back to the current server while we
investigate the issue further.

If you experience any server communication issues that you believe are
related to this work, please contact IT Support Services at 800.696.4357 or
by email: [log in to unmask]

Steve.
