Summary:

Army jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first period, then held off a
late Union rally to take a 6-5 win. Union, playing their first game
of the season, looked very shaky at the start of the game. Army was
able to take advantage of the first-game mistakes by the Dutchmen.
Mike Gallant stopped 8 of the 12 shots he faced in the first 9:28,
before being replaced by Luigi Villa. Union attempted 69 shots, but
27 were blocked by the defense, and 16 missed the net. After a
scoreless 2nd period, Union rallied for 3 late goals as they outplayed
Army for most of the period.

The game was delayed when Union's Chris Albert and Army's John Compton
crashed hard into the boards at the start of the second period.
Compton went head-first into the boards while falling. Compton was
down on the ice for 15-20 minutes. He was taken to Ellis Hospital,
and was released Sunday.

Union stands at 0-1 and Army is now 4-1. The Dutchmen will start ECAC
play next weekend, when they travel to Harvard and Brown.
