_Former Hockey Coach Heyliger Passes Away at Age 87_
Full story at http://www.mgoblue.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=22245
Vic Heyliger coached Michigan to the initial NCAA national championship
in 1948 and a total of six championships in the first nine years of the
tournament's existence. That record is eclipsed only by the pair of
sisters whose husbands, between them, won seven NCAA hockey
championships. They married a guy named Heyliger and subsequent
Michigan coach Al Renfrew. Had it not been for severe asthma that
forced Heyliger to move to Colorado, perhaps one sister alone would have
eventually surpassed both stats.
