St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University junior Duvie Westcott, a
resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey
Association's Defensive Player of the Week for games played Oct. 15-21.

Westcott, a 5-11, 195-pound defenseman, helped the Huskies gain a 3-1 (Oct.
20) and 7-0 (Oct. 21) sweep of Bemidji State. In the two games, Westcott
charted a +4 plus/minus rating, recorded 12 takeouts and contributed three
scoring points in the Huskies' victories. He helped SCSU limited BSU to
just one goal and 49 shot attempts in the two games.

On Oct. 20, in a game played at BSU, Westcott charted an assist. He
returned on Oct. 21, in a game played at SCSU, with a goal and one assist.
On the season, Westcott has already posted one goal and four assists for
five points - to rank second on the team in the total points category.

A 1995 graduate of St. Paul's High School, Westcott played one season at the
University of Alaska-Anchorage and one season for the USHL's Omaha Lancers
before transferring to SCSU in 1999. He also played for the Winnipeg South
Blues in 1996-97. In his first year at SCSU, Westcott posted 1 goal and 18
assists in 36 games.

The Huskies charted a 23-14-3 overall record in 1999-00, as they placed
third in the WCHA and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Division I
playoffs. Westcott is the son of Dru and Lorraine Westcott of Winnipeg.
