Someone asked recently who the members of the selection committee are
this year.

I received press information for the 1995 Championship on Sunday, and
included is the following:

DIVISION I MEN'S ICE HOCKEY COMMITTEE
Richard B. Comley, Northern Michigan University, Chair
Robert M. DeGregorio Jr., Merrimack College
Jeff L. Jackson, Lake Superior State University
Joseph A. Marsh, St Lawrence University

Championship Headquarters will be The Westin Hotel.
Media Headquarters will be The Westin Hotel.
Team Headquarters will be the Holiday Inn at the Crossings, Holiday
Inn Downtown, Omni Biltmore, and the Providence Marriott.

The Hobey Baker Memorial Award will be presented on Friday, March 31,
1995 at 4:30 pm ET at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

DATES FOR FUTURE CHAMPIONSHIPS
1996: March 28 & 30, Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, OH, Miami host
1997: March 27 & 29, Bradley Center, Milwaukee, WI, Wisconsin host
1998: April 2 & 4, Shawmut Center, Boston, MA, BU host
1999: April 1 & 3, Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim, CA, UAA host

Of course, the Shawmut Center will likely have a different name by
then.

Note that fans will be required to pay $6 admission to the RICC for
Fan Fair in order to see the presentation of the Hobey. Tickets for
the games that were mailed include a $1 off coupon for admission.
Still, I expect there to be quite a stir over the fact that fans will
have to pay to see the Hobey presentation, which was formerly free and
open to the public. I am surprised that none of the media members
with more of an opportunity to be heard have raised this issue. It
could be quite a problem in Providence. It certainly seems as if they
are holding the Hobey over the heads of the fans: support the Fan Fair
(which otherwise has nothing to do with college hockey, so I hear)
with your dollars, or you will not be allowed to see the Hobey
presentation. Aren't fans already being asked to pay enough for the
Championship itself?
