RPI 13
Ottawa 3
Some observations:
- This is the first time I've seen double digits in a loooong time.
- The WRPI guys were pointing out that it's been a while since RPI played
an exhibition game. Much as there's some entertainment value to seeing
flashing red lights, it wears thin after a while; also, (again the WRPI
guys) it gets them into sloppy habits.
- The officials had no names on their jerseys. Either it's because it's
too early in the season, or they don't want us remembering who the
officials were. Tonight's team weren't bad overall. Total penalties
called was in the 40s, though, I think.
- Senior Kirk MacDonald is back home in western Canada, recuperating from
testicular cancer. In tribute to him, and to raise money for testicular
cancer awareness, two of his teammates will be shaved after each home
game. We didn't stay to find out who tonight's volunteers were.
Coming up:
- RPI women play their first Division I game vs Sacred Heart tomorrow
evening in the Field House
- RPI men head to Lowell on Sunday
