This is not a misprint. The Fairfield STags (with 1 NC win against Bentley
this season) came out with great intensity and beat the Quinnipiac Braves on
Sunday afternoon in the barn in Bridgeport. This was not a "hot goalie"
victory, but a true team effort with tight-checking on both sides. The Stags
outshot the Braves 24-17 over 3 periods and 10-2 in the third. Quinnipiac
was 0 for 6 on the powerplay, showing that Fairfield was not afraid to take
the penalty and played a tough man-to-man game for three periods. The Stags
were 1 for 2 on the powerplay, scoring early in the first period (Cotter
from Metz) for the only goal of the game.
It was a great game to watch, particularly for us Fairfield fans! I believe
Quinnipiac was undefeated in regular season play in the MAAC for 26 games.
They beat Fairfield last weekend 10 - 0. This is a huge victory for the new
coach and his young players (understatement!)
