Well, just to jump in here with my pet peeve:
If an action is a penalty in the first minute of the game, then By God its
still a penalty in the last minute. The rules do NOT change with the
periods. I can live with an active referee or a passive one.
Philosophically I like the former better, but the latter typically makes for
a more exciting game. But what I cannot abide is the ref that calls
everything in the first half of the game, then swallows his whistle at the
end. And that, my friends, is a valid description of Noeth. I was not
impressed.
