The North Dakota Fighting Sioux defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers
5-3 at Mariucci Arena on Saturday night. No goals in the first period.
Minnesota led 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 in the second period, but North Dakota tied
the score thrice. Thrid period belonged to the Sioux, as they scored
the game-winner about midway through the period and added an
empty-netter at the end. Gophers played well for most of the weekend,
and came out of it with a single point. Sioux return to Grand Forks the
happy recipients of three points, but must realize it could have gone
the other way.
Minnesota plays at Anchorage next weekend, North Dakota hosts Colorado
College in an early season clash of titans.
