With three weeks left in the schedule, New Hampshire and Northeastern are
tied for first place in the ECAC League. UNH has the top spot because
they have a game in hand against travel partner Colby. Lurking just
behind the leaders are Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell. Two of those teams
will end up with home ice in the play-offs. That trio also is fighting it
out for the Ivy League title. St Lawrence edged closer to making the
play-offs by splitting its weekender.
The Women's Beanpot concludes Tuesday with the Championship match
featuring host Harvard and Northeastern. The Crimson last won the Beanpot
in 1995 at Bright. The Huskies are looking for a three-peat.
This coming Valentine's Day weekend finds Dartmouth and Boston College
visiting Princeton and Yale. That is a key series for the Big Green if
they want to stay in the upper echelon of the ECAC and Ivy Leagues. On
the other end of the spectrum, the BC - Eli meeting could determine who
finishes last this season. The St Lawrence at Harvard match is another
choice fixture, as the winner has a decided advantage for making the
play-offs. The Brown trip to UNH could be terrific. Those two have staged
many significant conflicts over the last couple of years, and this
appointment is equally important to both.
