*  AGAIN -  The WCHA has determined that Mankato State Univ. will be the
No. 10 playoff seed and play at the home of the league's No. 1 seed.
 
*  Colorado College had gone 64 consecutive home series without being
swept until losing a pair to St. Cloud State earlier this season
 
*  UMD remains the second lowest-scoring team in the WCHA despite
scoring 18 goals in their last four games
 
*  UMD and CC have played only one series each season in the five years
the WCHA has had an unbalanced schedule
 
* Wisconsin's Sauer says that it is "99.9 percent" certain that the
Badgers will play in the new on-campus Kohl Center next season
 
* A new arena is under construction at Denver
 
* Minnesota-Duluth officials are pushing for a new on-campus arena
 
* Gophers Dave Spehar had his car stolen.  Police found the 1990 Honda
Accord abandoned in North St. Paul
 
* St. Cloud State plays seven of its final 10 WCHA games at home
 
* The "Skate with the Gophers" event, which gives fans a chance to share
the Mariucci Arena ice with Gophers men's hockey players, will be held
Feb. 8 from 2-5 p.m. A $1 admission will be charged, and reservations
must be made in advance by calling the Gophers ticket office at 624-8080
or 1-800-U-GOPHER.
 
* CHAMPIONSHIP RUN - As far as strength of schedule is concerned, St.
Cloud State looks to have a slight advantage, with seven of its 10
remaining games at home. The Huskies are 8-0 against their scheduled
opponents, the figure does not include the Badgers.
 
* If Brant Nicklin starts against Colorado College on Friday he will
tie a Bulldogs record with 64 consecutive starts
 
* Minnesota and second-place Wisconsin have played only 16 WCHA games,
while the rest of the league has played 18
 
* The nine members of the WCHA have a 35-23-4 record and .597 winning
percentage against non-conference opponents in 1997-98
