Excerpt from Star Tribune 12/04/97:
St. Cloud State coach Craig Dahl missed nearly half of Saturday's game
at Denver because of fog at the Minneapolis airport. While his players
and assistants traveled to Denver for the Saturday-Sunday series, Dahl
went to Mason City, Iowa, on Friday night to scout recruits in a United
States Hockey League junior game. Saturday's weather caused flight
delays at the airport, and by the time Dahl arrived at Denver Coliseum
there were nine minutes remaining in the second period.

Wisconsin is 7-1 in league games, but none of their four WCHA opponents
have a winning record.

Excerpt from Duluth News 12/04/97:
On May 1, 1996, Nebraska - Omaha announced they'd start a team from
scratch this season. Just 15 days later, season ticket sales were halted
at 6,389. Later that month, the city council voted to install ice at the
Civic Auditorium.

Consider that Minnesota-Duluth generates hockey income of a little more
than $1 million per season while averaging around 4,800 per game at an
off-campus arena. That means Nebraska-Omaha should rake in over $1.5
million per year. That's a nice profit; most Division I teams operate
on $700,000 per season.

They should meet the criteria for application into the Western
Collegiate Hockey Association by the end of the 1998-99 season.

In 1939, the old Duluth Arena collapsed in a snowstorm and they sold all
their ice equipment to the Ak-Sar-Ben. They started the Omaha Knights
minor-league team and that's where all the hockey popularity started.
