To put a bit of history into the discussion of a MTU move to the CCHA:

Tech was originally in the WCHA and is not moving back to the CCHA
(although Tech was a CCHA member from 1981-1984.) A Tech move to the CCHA
would involve a loss of the well established rivalries with UMD, Minnesota,
UND, Wisconsin, CC etc ongoing since 1951. The Northern rivalry does not
need nuturing as it has a life of its own, Northern initially being the new
team in the U.P. A move to the CCHA would certainly be a disappointment
in those terms. It was a bad move in 1981 and would be now. (This a bias
Tech fan's opinion)

One other advantage (albeit small) with Northern and Tech in the WCHA and
Michigan, Michigan State in the CCHA, the GLI in December makes for a good
venue for league rivalry.

MTU IN THE NCAA: Watching Tech play in Milwaukee was a great time for Tech
fans, Tech was inspired but CC was the better team, if Tech is good now
then let them prove it next year during the season, right now they would
be so much fodder for an opponent in the first round as Minnesota showed
last Saturaday (tired legs aside).
