Well, after reading this, i had to chuckle. I have been hearing the same
thing from everyone here at UND. Despite this being true, UMD and UND
have played two more games than the Gophers. That is four points right
there. That can either sink MN further in the standings, or raise us in
the standings. Those two games won't be made up until the 16th-17th of
Feb. when UND and UMD have off wknds. MInnesota will share a home and
home series with the Huskies from St Cloud. Until then, the standings
will be a little off kilter til all teams have played the same number of
games. Sure you can hypothesize Minnesota getting swept by Sioux, but CC
could have a hard wknd in Wisconsin or UMD in Alaska. It is fun to
imagine what would happen if..... but Minnesota is playing good hockey
and Bonin, Trebil, Crowley, and Kraft are just four of many players who
are contributing to our success to this point. (Checco, Hankinson, Berg,
etc.)
The WCHA was predicted to be a two team runaway. That theory has
not held true to this point. It is much closer. I think a lot of WCHA
fans would agree it is better this way. Look at last wknd in Denver.
Alaska Anchorage played DU well and lost two one-goal games. I hope this
year continues to suprise us all.
