Except that the ECAC has a self-imposed limit of 30 regular-season games (the
Ivies limit themselves to 26). The ECAC is not likely to increase this limit,
but the eight non-league games is probably still enough for the non-Ivies to
get a decent amount of exposure to the rest of Division I. I'm hoping the
higher number of Hockey East non-league games will allow Hockey East and the
ECAC to continue scheduling a fair number of games with each other -- maybe
even increase that number.
Maybe this will all be for naught. It wouldn't surprise me if by the year
2000, the NCAA has reduced its regular-season limit on hockey to 30 games.
