Although this idea has good intentions (to promote the sport nationally),
it seems very impractical.  Since their are only 42(?) Div I college hockey
teams, a Top 25 would include more than half of the teams.  Think about it,
this would be similar to a Top 60 in Div I. Football.
 
Furthermore, I think it would be nearly impossible to distinguish between the
20-25 ranked teams and the 25-30 ranked teams.  It is already hard to determine
the difference between the 10-15 ranked teams (see Colorado College not in
NC$$ tournament last year).  It seems to me that a national *ranking* should
mean that the team is clearly in the top 25% of the country and not top 60%.
Just my .02 worth.
