PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Providence College men’s hockey team is ranked No. 8
in the nation, according to the latest USA Today/American Hockey Magazine
Coaches Poll and the USCHO.com poll released on Monday, February 5, 2001.
The Friars, 15-7-4, posted a 2-0-0 record last week. On February
2, the Friars defeated Northeastern, 4-3, at Matthews Arena. On February
3, PC shutout Merrimack 1-0, at Schneider Arena.
Sophomore Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan) is currently leading
the Friars in scoring with 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists). Sophomore
Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) and senior Boyd Ballard
(Weyburn, Saskatchewan) have shared the Friars’ goaltending duties. This
season, the duo have combined for a 2.32 goals against average and a .924
save percentage.
The Friars will return to action Friday, February 9, versus
top-ranked Boston College at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.
