There was an article in the campus newspaper on Monday that posted some of the
following information.
Team USA will compete in the World Championships form April 19 - May 4 in
the seven-country tournament. The Americans will open up play against Canada
on Friday and play Czechoslovakia on Saturday. Sweden, Switzerland, Germany,
Finland and the Soviet Union are the other countries competing in the
tournament.
Former Gopher defenseman Tom Pederson, who has quit school to play hockey
at this tournament and to concentrate on making the Olympic team is on the
roster. Other former WCHA players named to the team are goaltender Damian
Rhodes of Richfield, who played at Michigan Tech, and former Minnesota-Duluth
star Guy Gosselin.
The majority of the roster will be completed later this week after some
NHL teams are eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs. Other college stars
named to the team were Jim Dowd from LSSU, Dave Tretowitz from Clarkson, Shawn
McEachern from Boston Univ, and Bill Guerin from Boston College.
The team is coached by Tim Taylor of Yale University, and assisted by Jeff
Sauer of Wisconsin and John Cunniff of the New Jersey Devils.
As more information appears in the papers here, I will post it!
