In Sunday's Boston Globe, NHL columnist Kevin Paul Dupont admitted that
hockey without the red line was more exciting than the NHL brand of hockey.
It is the first time I have seen one of these NHL lifers concede the
obvious. If only the dunderheads who run the North American game would
follow suit. Yes, when they widen the rinks they would lose a few seats
down by the ice but they would undoubtedly gain with increased fan support.

I know that in the Olympics we are watching the greatest players in the
world. But even the ones who are a little bit less than the greatest could
make the game so much more exciting.

I hold out little hope but we can always dream.
